11:00 p.m., Icarus Jones: Just finished the 209vibe presents show at the Blackwater in good ol’ Stocktown. Once again, I’m amazed at the amount of love & support that everyone has showed us. The house packed with nothing but party people, and that’s exactly what went down…one HELL of a party. Thanks to Ian from the Record & his 209vibe team, Middagh from beat!happy, the staff & owners at the Blackwater, and most of all to the crowd of supporters that turned out. For the first show we’ve done in months, it was a definite success. Be on the lookout for more local shows & the new album’s will be out soon…I promise. If there’s one thing I believe in, it’s the local scene & it’s loyal fans. I can’t thank you all enough. Represent.
10:34 p.m., Ian Hill, editor: And that is why I believe in hip-hop.

10:27 p.m., Tim Poelstra: Everyone that missed this missed what Stockton is slowly and painfully becoming. All long lasting good things come with time, and the music scene is no exception. Middagh and Ian are keeping this scene alive, and it’s finally growing after 5 + years. All of you that didn’t get to the show tonight need to understand that truly good music is being presented in this town and YOU NEED TO BE THERE to keep it alive. All the musicians out there need to unite…write songs! Start bands! If you think you suck, don’t worry about, you are part of the beginning of something new! Watch 209VIBE.COM for the shows, and SHOW UP! Don’t complain if you have something to bring to this scene and don’t…that makes you a scenester, and scenesters have never enjoyed themselves…
10:16 p.m., Stephen "ADEPT" Herrera: What up 209… I’m out at the Blackwater Café listenin to my man Icarus Jones, If you haven’t seen the live show… Do yourself a favor and peep the next one. Peace Stockton. Props to 209 VIBE …
9:26 p.m., Dan - singer/songwriter for Filbert: Whoever is reading this that didn’t make it out tonight…. I’m sorry. This has been the best show that we have played in a while. I like the vibe. They are my friends. My pals, my wonderful best pal friends. Yeah, for reals. I’m pretty excited about this 209vibe thing though, there are not enough crazy promotion people out there. Especially not in Stockton. So everyone who didn’t make it out tonight, make it out next time. October 8th at the blackwater café. Our other band “hey mana!” Is going to be playing with “The New Trust.” So be there!
Ps- shout out to Caleb Frankenstein
Pss- I love you.
9:10 p.m., Tama Brisbane, a.k.a. T'Bizzy: 209V at the Blackwater – yes, yes, y’all!!! Raucous and intimate at the same time. Filbert kicked it off with a nice set, and currently Greyspace is takin’ it much, much higher. Icarus will need to bring his A game. :>) Keep it goin’ Ian.
Greyspace (below)

8:58 p.m., Jill Roda, 209Vibe Street Team: So, Filbert….Filbert actually was great on stage. A group consisting of young guns, they all had that foppish look that the kids are eating up these days. Their sound is pretty much folk-derived with pop overtones; they can almost be compared to mainstream bands like Modest Mouse with the use of their banjos and triangles. The songs were catchy like ear candy, utterly singable with a toe-tapping beat. Buy their CD! It’s the perfect soundtrack for a trip down to the beach in fair weather. I certainly hope that one of these days Filbert becomes a household item; they’re sound is just what the industry needs right now.

6:35 p.m., Ian Hill, editor: 209Vibe also will be making a concert announcement tonight at the show that could help the local hip-hop community take a big step forward. Be ready.
I'm listening to Icarus right now. It honestly gives me butterflies.
6:20 p.m., Ian Hill, editor: Icarus Jones is the only local musician ever to stop me in my tracks. During an interview in March he gave me a CD of unreleased material. When I listened to it on the way back to the office, it struck me so hard I had to pull to the side of the road. Jones' lyrics are amazing; his flow, perfect.
"I woke up with this tune in my mind / so I put pen to paper / let the the two intertwine / they say / who you are is what you do with your time / and I've been doing just fine / staying true to the grind / I keep my chips in a line / and my raps in stacks / until the table gets unstable from the weight and collapses."
Since then, whenever someone has asked me to name a talented local musician, I talk about Icarus first. His music has eanred him fans who range from Oakland A's pitcher and Stockton native Dallas Braden to former KWIN program director Mike Elwood to Replay Records owner and local music institution Willie Hines.
It's been at least a few months since Icarus last played his hometown, and I've gotten several calls and emails this week from people who plan to be at the show. If you're coming, plan to arrive early. The Blackwater only holds 49 people.
