About The Savage Sun
Bio edited by Brea Jones, Online Editor, Stockton Record
Christopher Schamber's development as a songwriter/MC began long before The Savage Sun was ever manifested. Born and raised in Stockton, California, Savage began freestyling and writing rhymes in 1996 purely for personal enjoyment, and began recording hip-hop in professional studios in that same year (although while growing up, he remembers listening to the likes of Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, MC Lyte, & Ice-T in elementary school & Run-DMC, Fat Boys, Beastie Boys, & 2 Live Crew in junior high school). In 1998, recording became an important focus for The Savage Sun, but live performances were still very rare. In 2002, putting out legitimate album compilations became a reality. After the release of the Character Development LP, he intensified his aspirations and ambitions, which included a string of shows in the Central Valley and the Bay Area. In 2004, a crossroad of events led him to the Northwest, but he stayed well rooted in the West Coast. This was the catalyst for a period of tremendous growth in his artistic development. He wrote the greatest number of songs ever in 2004, showcasing a blend of unique songs and an undeniable talent as a song writer. He also padded his resume with a respectable international performance. Beginning in 2005, he has performed a number of shows in the Northwest, attracted the press and wrote many high quality songs. During the past decade, he has gained respect and acclaim within the hip-hop community, and considerable notoriety along the West Coast of the United States and abroad. In 2004, he launched Sentient Productions, a music resource management and consultant company. In 2007, he temporarily relocated to St. Louis, MO, to gain exposure in the Midwest. 2008 has already brought shows and continued album and merchandise sales, as well as the beginning of new written material. From a simple idea, a pen and paper, to radio broadcasts, interview articles and music video, he keeps living a dream. He began with desire and belief, and he hasn't looked back since. And in case you were wondering, he never sleeps.
