About Middagh Goodwin
Middagh Goodwin is a local promoter, musician and political activist. He has been promoting shows in the Central Valley for more than 20 years, starting in Modesto with St Christopher Presents. Goodwin also helped create the Modesto Organization of Bands, MOB. Eventually, he moved to Stockton and produced shows under the name of Poison Free Productions. Most of his early shows were held at Stockton's American Legion Hall. Then he started a small do-it-yourself label, Beat Happy! Music, which has issued four releases and is involved in other projects. In 1997 or 1998, Goodwin decided to promote all his shows under the name Beat Happy! Music. He also plays in the jazz-noise band Novacain. The band has performed each year in the annual Central Valley Indie Music Fest. Goodwin helps to organize the festival. Currently he is working with Mike Park of Asian Man Records to open the Plea for Peace Center, an all-ages music and art house in downtown Stockton. He has booked bands from A-Z minus Q.

Middagh rocks! 'nuff said.
Middagh, way to go, hey i wanted to make a comment here and give props to my good friend Middagh. Being a former and always a Stocktonian who played in many bands in Stocktown including the once infamous Batchplant and currently in a band in La called Kill the Robots, i salute Middagh for his constant hard work and dedicaton to the scene in Stockton. It's so easy to sit on the fence and watch things fade as the man takes more places away from the most creative minds . I remember a time when Middagh arrived in Stockton and both he i working at Replay, would think of ways to make this city cool, hell there's no reason y a city of a qauter of a mill can not get something together. Fela said once, the united shall define the ones who oppress, thus i say to you all, unite unite and unite.
I've known Middagh for 20 years and he's been a genuinely good person. That is rare in life. When someone gives you their word that should count, but often it doesn't. Middagh has always been there to help anyone. If you mean your shitty band begged to play with their idols and circumstances dictated that it wouldn't work out; sorry pal, grow up. Just because he's too considerate to tell you that the headliner didn't want you to play and your mommy and daddy won't get to see junior on stage doesn't mean he's an awful person. Grow up. Accomplish something on your own. It doesn't make you punk because you act like an ass. Some of us have manged to stay trueto ourselves and the music without being jackasses; probably longer than you've been alive.
oh, stinging come backs. You sure changed my mind about Middagh. Maybe he's not a self centered chunky. Maybe hes not bias with a big ego. Maybe he really is an important part of the Stockton scene......ha! Clown shoes. p.s. I didnt use spell check when I wrote this.....sucka.
Middagh is a good guy, who brings great shows to this area. I don't care if the shows he promotes are his friends or not, they are still great shows! And it's very simple, if you don't like someone, then don't go to their site just to leave moronic and rude comments in order to boost your own pathetic bit of self esteem. Hate him or like him, obviously you are thinking of him, so the site has already served a purpose ;) I have learned that when you talk trash on someone else, it's usually the same trash that others think and say about you(and you probably even think about yourself), so choose your words wisely.....and kindly......and don't be an asshole to someone you don't even know! Thank you Middagh, for promoting kick-ass shows, and for being the good person that you are;)
I want to thank those who have used their real names when posting comments(positive or negative.) I want to thank those of you who have posted negative comments(no matter how unfounded and childish for helping drive traffic to my page here and the 209VIBE site.) "Your not even in a band which makes you a fake." I do perform with NOVACAIN(you may not like what we do but we have performed with bands as diverse as Souls of Mischief, Wilhaven and Agent Orange at venues all over NOR-CAL and performed at the Chicago stop of the Warped Tour in '03.) I have shared the stage with The Violent Femmes(doing 2 solos)when they played the Bob Hope Theatre, Street Drum Corp('04, 07 dates of the Warped Tour), Skankin' Pickle, Bad Dog Sit, Red Devlin and the Tormentors, Sandwich Mafia, Headboard, Tin Circus and others. I have booked over 80 bands, promoted over 130 shows so far this year(helping many bands from the Stockton area get gigs elsewhere.) But I digress this site is not just for BANDS(I am a promoter and am working at opening a venue 2 areas that this site helps to promote.) "You have never lifted a finger to help anyone except your friends." Now what is wrong with helping ones friends? Now I shouldn't have to tell you that a good number of the bands I have booked so far this year were not my friends when I booked them. I have become friends with most of them and would book them again if they asked me. "Making people hold up signs with your name?" Now I don't think I have ever made anyone hold up a sign with my name on it. I have asked some people, I have had many ask me if they could hold the sign. Now I wish I had the power to make members of AFI, Agent Orange, Bad Religion, Big D and the Kids Table, Circle Jerks, Fishbone, Flogging Molly, The Living End, MxPx, NOFX, Poison the Well, Rancid, Reel Big Fish, Reverend Horton Heat, Rise Against, Suicide Machine, Tiger Army, The Used, The Vandals(yeah I know name dropping)hold a No Promises Just Love or Not My President...Yet signs. What power do I have? Oh the power of friendship and the fact that the people who have held the flyers see the need to get people registered and out to vote. Now can I make a suggestion for all my detractors. If your convictions are not strong enough to use your real name then they mean nothing. Oh and for gods sake spell check.
Hey, Middagh has his faults. He smells really bad, for one thing, but all in all he is a decent guy trying to promote some music in Stockton. Whats so wrong with that?

How sad is this guy. You know you just sit at home and vote for yourself all night to increase your ranking on this site. Face it, your a loser. Your not even in a band which makes you a fake. How does that feel. Your pathetic!
We obviously encourage local music and entertainment fans to post comments here. But if all you can do is act like a child and call people names, your comment will be deleted. Be constructive.
I book bands I like(most of them I am friends with.) I encourage all of you to go out and book shows(book a bunch of bands you are not friends with, book a bunch of bands you don't like.) I am not out booking shows to make alot of music, most if not all independent promoters have day jobs. Step up your game ya'll it is not rocket science. You don't like the bands I am booking don't come to the shows. If you are in a band that I have not, or will not book(then book your own shows,or find someone else to do it for you. I am not the only promoter in town.) Move beyond Stockton and the 209. It is really not that hard to get a gigs, it is not rocket science, it is rock and roll.
