About The Great Oglee Moglee Blues Band

The Great Oglee Moglee Blues Band first formed out of a series of jam sessions, in August 2007, between Jay Ogle guitarvocals and Paul Johnson drums. They had known each other years earlier while playing different bands in San Jose, California. Now living in the San Joaquin Valley, they began playing together and discussing the prospect of forming a blues band.

During this time Paul was also playing with another band, a Christian Progressive Rock band named Theos Project. He asked Theos Project bassistvocalist Gary Gehman to sit in on a jam session with himself and Jay. The chemistry between the three was undeniable. They started practicing as a trio, playing old blues standards along with several original songs written by Jay.

After a few weeks of rehearsals, Paul met up with another Bay Area transplant, keyboardist Torry Wilson. After only two sessions, Torry joined the band. They immediately decided to enter the studio to record a six song demo CD. Released in February 2008 the CD, consisting of five original songs Brown Liquor Blues, I Don’t Want Half, Spinnin’, Spend The Night, and Love Is Like The Blues and one cover song Third Degree, was released.

They decided to name the band after Paul started referring to Jay as Jay Oglee Moglee. Jay agreed to the play on words with his last name and it was decided the band would be called The Great Oglee Moglee Blues Band.

In September 2008, Torry Wilson left the band and the search for a new keyboardist began.
