About Avon Union
In Fall 2006, Ian Keighley and David Mayman met at the University of the Pacific. Both were interested forming a band, yet had no way of playing music on campus. By Spring 2007, they had started the Musical Fusion club, which is now the main source for local bands at Pacific (more about Musical Fusion at http://www.musicalfusion.org). At that time, though, it was Ian and David playing guitar and drums in the dining hall after hours. They soon started Statute 17, a cover band with Nick Musni on guitar and Dave Vanoli on bass. They played one show before Vanoli left, splitting them into two bands: Avon Union and Alida. In Fall 2007, the former members of Statute 17 paired with Richard Hwang, a local bassist at Pacific, but weren't able to stick together. Finally, they met Jake Palmer, and were amazed at his incredible bass skills. By October '07, Avon Union had formed. In December 2007, Avon Union recorded their first EP (Self Titled) with Fabian Martinez at Kill Media Engineering, which is available at any of their shows. Avon Union is currently available for shows until the middle of May. They will be going through some changes starting in the Fall, as two members will be moving away, but it is guaranteed that they will be back very soon. See them while you can before May!
