About Mental Illness
Mental Illness is a Chicano rap group that formed in Stockton in 1999 by N-sane, who was producing at the time. The group dropped "A Hustlers Story" in 2000, which sold around 500 copies in the 209 area. At that time, the group was going through legal problems with most of the artists locked up. Everything changed in 2004 when the group got back in the lab and started recording their second album, "Money Clip," which hit the streets in 2005. Money clip featured such artists as Black Rhino, Big Oso Loc, Never and Mike D of Lowdown, Cutty Face, Young Erupt and more. "Money Clip" went on to sell 4,000 units with little promotion and is still selling. Mental Illness has been featured on several nationwide releases such as "Central Valley Bad Boys" Vols. 1 and 2, "Thizzed Out," "Hoodstars," "Thugged Out," "Northern Cali Stomp," "Northern Warriors," "Thizz Nation 14" and many others. Mental Illness is currently finishing its third album, "Unstoppable," which features artists such as Goldtoes, Yukmouth, Mr. Kee, T-Nutty, Messy Marv, Young Ren, Mr. Pee Bodie, Black Rhino, Chosen and others. Mental Illness has also been seen on the cover of 916 magazine and in the pages of Str8-lace magazine, Street Low magazine, Boss Status magazine. The group has performed at shows through out the country, including car shows by Street Low Magazine and Gents Productions. Mental Illness has performed with such artists as E-40, Killa Tay, Lil Bruce, Turf Talk, Mr. FAB, Black C., W.C., Thizz Ent. and Thizz Latin, Bad Ass, Guce, Messy Marv and many others. Expect to hear big things from a group of big men. Their style is unmatched.
