About The Second String Quintet
The Second String Quintet was formed in late 2006 as a result of a longtime friendship between this tight-knit five piece band. Their primary focus: Making good, honest, heartfelt music. A very productive year and a half later this six piece band has become, among other things, a group of multi- talented vocalists and instrumentalists. The addition of Michael Klooster, of Smashmouth fame, in 2007 adds yet another new dimension to an already full and vibrant sound. With their deeply human lyrics, rich harmonies, and unique blend of instruments, (banjo, guitar, ukulele, keys, bass, harmonica and drums) The Second String Quintet is steadily gaining a loyal and devout fan base. Their debut, self-titled album is a collective effort. It features cleverly crafted compositions written by the bands’ three song writers Esteban Aguila, Antonio Borrego III a.k.a Snap Jackson and Tony Avila. The album will appeal equally to folk, soul and pop fans alike. Now out on the road promoting their album, The Second String Quintet is winning over crowds city to city with their infamous two to three hour charismatic sets. Whether it’s a funky Nick Johnson bass lick or the often humorous banter between the players, this band will no doubt leave a long lasting impression on the audience. check out our MySpace page at: myspace.com/thesecondstringquintet

Hello.I heard you guys by accident at your Rasputin show.WOW! I'm glad we stuck around.Very entertaining. You guys have a really cool sound. It sounds old-time and new school all at the same time. Thanks for the free tunes.I look foward to another show in the future.Thank you, Sam
Thank you for the good times and the GREAT MUSIC.I play at least one your songs at least once a day.I Look foward to catching you guys at Rasputins on the 14th. P.S When is the full length album gonna be on the shelves.
i think, relative to the rest of his body, Snap has a rather average head. peculiarly, he has more hairs per square inch than a raccoon. as for being difficult to work with, i can not argue against it; but i can say this: if you think collaborating with Snap Jack is an arduous process try working with his brother, Buddy. it is damn near impossible and that is the reason he is not in the band. i heard this all straight from their mother Monica's mouth. she can vouch. bottom line is: this band kicks a lot more ass than most bands in existence. mmhmm.
Snap Jack! What up man! Kelly sent me a couple links to your bands music. Real good shit man! I remember back in high school, you playing your harmonica and freestylin on the hill. Looks like some things never change. The only difference is you traded a beatbox for a banjo. I always knew you would do something big.Shoot me some music and I will spread the word.BIG UP! Marvin
I LOVE THIS BAND!!! The letter blue show was awesome.. It was nice to hear an all acoustic version of the Second String Quintet songs!
Snap and Esteban,Your show @ Cibo Di Vino was awesome.Your voices compliment each other so well. You can hear you so much better when you play in the stripped down style.Great stories.I also enjoyed the acoustic aspect of the show.Don't make us wait too long for the next Letter Blue gig. Thanks again, A new Letter Blue fan, Gloria S.
all these boys are not only fantastic musicians, but fantastic people. i am honored to a part of this roots movement and i am super-duper looking forward to tonight at cibo d' vino!! werd.
Great job at the Blackwater guys! The best show I've seen so far. Wagon wheel with Pretty Mama and The Not So Hot's was amazing.Keep it up. p.s Snap Jackson is definitely my "favorite mexican banjo player" HaHa.
You used to have to go to the bay to see a band like this. Thanks for bringing quality back to the valley. I LOVE Cat's & Dogs and Downhill Blues. Keep it up gentlemen. I heard Snap Jackson is in a bluegrass group as well ...is this true?
