About Ian Hill
Ian Hill is tone deaf. He has no rhythm, he can't carry a tune and he hasn't played an instrument since the fifth grade. That instrument was a French horn, and he only knew how to blow an E note. At the time, it was inconceivable that Ian would eventually become a music and entertainment writer. Then, when he was 14, Ian fell in love. The relationship started at his first concert, a Grateful Dead show in his hometown of Buffalo, N.Y. It blossomed when he discovered independent, local rock at a free outdoor show a short time later. Ian was head-over-heels infatuated with music. He loved the surprisingly welcoming atmosphere at punk shows, the laid-back feeling he got when he listened to jazz and sense of cool toughness that came with hip-hop. Ian later received his journalism degree from Ohio University and set about compiling the greatest music collection ever known. Over the years, he has often chosen to spend money on CDs and LPs instead of food or utility bills, as his poor credit rating proves. In other words, Ian is a devoted music fan. He now covers local music and entertainment from a fan's viewpoint for The Record.

Ian, Just wanted to thank you for 209's part in Ic's show last nightr. Great show, and it is so nice to have such a diverse group of people party down with no B.S. happening......thanks again...... Michael Brooking Photography
Hey Ian, From a visual standpoint the website looks amazing. Way to go building something from the ground up. This entire empire you are building takes more effort than I bet we even know or appreciate. So thanks for this outlet for musicians and bands alike. With how far this has come in such a short time, I will be great to see where it leads to and what doors it opens for other cities that strive for a local scene much like ours. Thanks, Greg Adams
The 209VIBE site and Newspaper is the perfect medium for all Valley Musicians and Fans. Thanks for all your hard work Ian. Keep up the good work.
Just wanted to stop by and say thanks from the whole 209. There's never been a more positive representation of the scene.
I heard the Stones were playing a free show in Stockton, is that true?
Sweet podcast!
Yan Hill is great! When Yan Hill goes into the water he doesn't get wet, the water get's Yan Hill'ed
Hey Yan, have you seen GOOOOREVICH lately? I love Brennin!
Hey how come Jones had his picture on your website? I want a pic of me up there too! Why did you take the pic of you with Jones and his death-metal face off the site?
Hey Yan, Cool website, Yan has had a very diverse musical up-bringing, remember when you almost started a brawl at the Mahone's show at the Buffalo Nickle??? Goo's or L ot L at thursday in the square? The Dead at Rich stadium. Hi Mr and Mrs Hill Dayna and Allissa. You played the French horn??? Hey the Bills might actually make the Playoffs! Are you in for a get together out east? (WVA)
Looks like someone is jealous... If you don't think you are getting the proper exposure for yourself or your band then do something about it. Raise your game and you might get noticed. Promotion is the name of the game, get in touch with the Record and other outlets in the area and let them know you are doing something. Ask the entertainment reporter to come and review your event or get someone you know to review it and submit it to all relevent sources. Don't just expect because you are a promoter or in a band that the paper will do a story on you. If you don't submit your events you shouldn't complain that they are not listed. 209Vibe has sponsered a few shows I have done each one different then the last. The First one was Icarus Jones, Grayspace and Filbert a Indie Hip Hop show. Next was the All Gallows Eve show Folk, Bluegrass and Acoustic Music featuring the Outlaw Dance Society, Can Kickers and Indian Valley Line. Third was the Dia De Los Muertos Show with Ozmoziz, Dezu and Los Ilegales Muertos(Punk/Ska/Rockabilly en Espanol.)I put the 209Vibe logo on the Tumbledown Flyer(Mike Herrera of MxPx)which was more or less a country show with acoustic sets by Simmerhorn, the Lucky Devils and Kepi Ghoulie. I post the 209Vibe banner on my bulletins and other flyers(to drive traffic to this site and helps to promote the music in the 209 and all the acts on here.)
hey ian nice looking web-site. i was cutting your dads hair and he gave me your info. have a great time with your family for thanksgiving!!
High-class diverse entertainment, like this? http://www.209vibe.com/articles/view/51
Are you and Middagh secretly lovers? Seems that way since he is the only promoter you ever quote or do features on. His events are weak and the same crowd everytime. Where is all the high class, diverse entertainment? Get it together 209 and get some fresh acts! Middah Goodwin and Ian Hill are a big joke/scam!

Finally got to see the website. Great Job!! Sooo true about the bills. The french goes way back. Keep up the great work.
Hey, Ian. I posted the event I called you about called "Nothing To Do On Saturday". It's going to be crazy! Our featured guest is David Garibaldi who was here last year. We had over 250 kids there at the teen center. This year, we're having it at the Ceaser Chavez High School auditorium. I'm told it holds 450 people and we're trying to pack it out. Our focus is high school/college aged kids but it's open for all ages. The website for David Garibladi is www.garibaldiarts.com. If you get time, you should check it out. I don't know if Stockton has seen anything like this yet. Later.....
Hi Ian, Its your mom and I am very proud of you! You looked very cute getting off the school bus with a instrument bigger than you. Enjoy the music and the Stockton scene. We miss you! Never forget your Buffalo music. Love, mom
this website is where it's at for the valley
Yes it is true, as a long time friend of Ian (or Yan as he is called in Buffalo)I can corroborate that he is indeed tone deaf and has no riddim. He is however a super great guy with a passion for music. I remember that first dead show we went to in '92 in Buffalo, it was a blast. He does not have the greatest music collection of all time. Jones does. Hi Alyssa! congrats on graduating from Art school
Ian is the real deal! all day in 209!
Every single day I thank the sweet and tender little baby Jesus that Ian Hill came to Stockton to support our local music scene. May the Holy Virgin watch over you Ian, and may she cry rose scented tears of 24K gold into the footsteps of your future to bless your soft pink tootsies as you shuffle along this mortal coil. Rock and Roll 4-Eva baby.
A) Never knew you played the french horn. Possible because I was 3. B) You did a nice job on the website, you should look at mine because yes I do know how to use a computer.
How can someone sign up to start posting events to our site?
