Sean Kingston headlined the Empire Theatre May 3, his third stop in Stockton in the past seven months. And while the R&B singer put on a fast-paced, high energy show, not many fans were there to see it. The floor was not even halfway full.

Perhaps because of the low turnout, the opening played for only 30 minutes while Kingston's set lasted just 40 minutes. As a result, the show felt rushed and it ended before 10 p.m. Nevertheless, all of the performers seemed to have a positive attitude and made the best of the night.

Sean Kingston's DJ hyped the crowd with a top 40 medley of dance tunes mixed with splices of Kingston's own songs. After the warmup, Kingston appeared on stage with his producer/ hypeman, and began rapping songs from his self-titled CD. "Beautiful Girls" and "Take You There" were clearly the crowd favorites.

About halfway through his set Kingston introduced the crowd to his newest hip hop dance move - the "Jerky" - and let his fluorescent-clad rapper/hypeman display it. Everyone immediately tried to emulate the pop and lock move, and then began dancing wildly when the Phil Collins-sampled hit "I Can Feel It" came blaring out of the speakers.

Kingston kept the crowd's spirits up, performing "There's Nothing In This World," singing the first half of the chorus while audience members sang and screamed the second half into the microphone. Kingston also picked different girls in the crowd to serenade throughout the show.

All in all, Sean Kingston proved he could bring the party to life - even if it's a small party.
