About Premier Nightclub
Francisco Ferreyra closed his last nightspot, Ferreyra's Sports Bar on Charter Way, after police said it was crime-ridden. Now he's running a club in what could be the safest location in Stockton. Ferreyra and partner Roberto Ramirez operate Premier Restaurant and Nightclub across from the Stockton police station on El Dorado Street. Ferreyra and Ramirez said the 7,600-square-foot Premier, formerly known as the Brick House, is a safe establishment. Security is a priority and the club has a strictly enforced dress code, Ferreyra said. If patrons are dressed nicely, they're more likely to behave nicely, he said. "It's a pretty mellow crowd," said Traumell Clayton, 32, a Stockton resident who's attended two Friday night R&B shows at Premier. "I've enjoyed myself both times I've been there." Since opening Premier in early 2007, Ferreyra and Ramirez have featured a variety of live performers. They've been most successful featuring Latin bands, but jazz and blues nights, R&B shows and male dancers also have become popular. One Latin band drew more than 150 people, Ferreyra said.
